runtests: improve XML prolog check, enable -w permanently, fix two tests
To really verify the presence of the XML prolog, also in CI.

- move the prolog check from `loadtest` to `checktest`.
  (load did a soft error, silently skipping the test instead of failing)
- runtests: enable `-w` functionality permanently for all test targets,
  drop the option. It has no measurable performance impact.
- test 798, 1665: add XML prolog.

runtests: make memanalyzer a Perl module (for 1.1-2x speed-up per test run)
Patch #19786 removed an exception, which caused many more CI jobs to run
`memanalyze.pl`. It resulted in a 10-30% (Linux), 15% (macOS), 100% (2x,
on Windows) slowdown of runtest steps. It also made some jobs exceed
their time limits and fail (seen with the Windows ARM64 job.)

Turns out the overhead was caused by calling `memanalyze.pl` as
an external process (twice per test), which in turn had to load a full
Perl stack from scratch each time.

Fix by converting memanalyze to a Perl modul, loaded as part of
`runtests.pl`, which eliminated the overhead completely.

It also sped up existing jobs where memanalyze was run for a long time,
e.g. two c-ares Windows jobs, saving 4.5m per CI run.

build: stop overriding standard memory allocation functions
Before this patch curl used the C preprocessor to override standard
memory allocation symbols: malloc, calloc, strdup, realloc, free.
The goal of these is to replace them with curl's debug wrappers in
`CURLDEBUG` builds, another was to replace them with the wrappers
calling user-defined allocators in libcurl. This solution needed a bunch
of workarounds to avoid breaking external headers: it relied on include
order to do the overriding last. For "unity" builds it needed to reset
overrides before external includes. Also in test apps, which are always
built as single source files. It also needed the `(symbol)` trick
to avoid overrides in some places. This would still not fix cases where
the standard symbols were macros. It was also fragile and difficult
to figure out which was the actual function behind an alloc or free call
in a specific piece of code. This in turn caused bugs where the wrong
allocator was accidentally called.

To avoid these problems, this patch replaces this solution with
`curlx_`-prefixed allocator macros, and mapping them _once_ to either
the libcurl wrappers, the debug wrappers or the standard ones, matching
the rest of the code in libtests.

This concludes the long journey to avoid redefining standard functions
in the curl codebase.

Note: I did not update `packages/OS400/*.c` sources. They did not
`#include` `curl_setup.h`, `curl_memory.h` or `memdebug.h`, meaning
the overrides were never applied to them. This may or may not have been
correct. For now I suppressed the direct use of standard allocators
via a local `.checksrc`. Probably they (except for `curlcl.c`) should be
updated to include `curl_setup.h` and use the `curlx_` macros.

This patch changes mappings in two places:
- `lib/curl_threads.c` in libtests: Before this patch it mapped to
  libcurl allocators. After, it maps to standard allocators, like
  the rest of libtests code.
- `units`: before this patch it mapped to standard allocators. After, it
  maps to libcurl allocators.

Also:
- drop all position-dependent `curl_memory.h` and `memdebug.h` includes,
  and delete the now unnecessary headers.
- rename `Curl_tcsdup` macro to `curlx_tcsdup` and define like the other
  allocators.
- map `curlx_strdup()` to `_strdup()` on Windows (was: `strdup()`).
  To fix warnings silenced via `_CRT_NONSTDC_NO_DEPRECATE`.
- multibyte: map `curlx_convert_*()` to `_strdup()` on Windows
  (was: `strdup()`).
- src: do not reuse the `strdup` name for the local replacement.
- lib509: call `_strdup()` on Windows (was: `strdup()`).
- test1132: delete test obsoleted by this patch.
- CHECKSRC.md: update text for `SNPRINTF`.
- checksrc: ban standard allocator symbols.

cmake: re-add simple test target, and name it tests
Before this patch there was no (easy) way to run tests without various
verbose options, hindering readability of the output due its length.

Unfortunately CMake reserves `test` as a target name, which was
the reason for its removal earlier. Re-add it with the name `tests`,
to have the functionality without the name collision.

Also add a `tests` target as an alias to `test` for autotools.

tests: merge clients into libtests, drop duplicate code
libtests and clients were built the same way after recent overhauls.
libtests are used by runtests, clients by pytests.

Merge clients into libtests, aligning their entry function signature,
dropping common utility functions, and simplifying the build.

Note: After this patch `CURLDEBUG` applies to cli tests, when enabled.

Also:
- lib552: drop local copy-paste debug callback in favor of testtrace.
- lib552: drop local copy-paste dump function in favor of testtrace.
- clients: use `long` for HTTP version, drop casts.
- clients: replace local dump function in favor of testrace clone.
- sync cli test entry function prototype with libtests'.
- h2_serverpush: replace local trace callback with testtrace.
- de-duplicate 3 websocket close, ping, ping, functions. Kept the pong
  iteration from `ws_pingpong`. Note: the pong clone in `lib2304` was
  returning an error when `curl_ws_recv()` returned non-zero and
  the payload matched the expected one anyway. After this patch, this
  case returns success, as it does in `ws_pingpong`.
  `lib2304` keeps passing, but I'm not sure if the previous behavior
  was intentional.
- display full value in websocket close, ping, pong, drop casts.

tests: always make bundles, adapt build and tests
Make test bundles the default. Drop non-bundle build mode.
Also do all the optimizations and tidy-ups this allows, simpler builds,
less bundle exceptions, streamlined build mechanics.

Also rework the init/deinit macro magic for unit tests. The new method
allows using unique init/deinit function names, and calling them with
arguments. This is in turn makes it possible to reduce the use of global
variables.

Note this drop existing build options `-DCURL_TEST_BUNDLES=` from cmake
and `--enable-test-bundles` / `--disable-test-bundles` from autotools.

Also:
- rename test entry functions to have unique names: `test_<testname>`
  This removes the last exception that was handled in the generator.
- fix `make dist` to not miss test sources with test bundles enabled.
- sync and merge `tests/mk-bundle.pl` into `scripts/mk-unity.pl`.
- mk-unity.pl: add `--embed` option and use it when `CURL_CLANG_TIDY=ON`
  to ensure that `clang-tidy` does not miss external test C sources.
  (because `clang-tidy` ignores code that's #included.)
- tests/unit: drop no-op setup/stop functions.
- tests: reduce symbol scopes, global macros, other fixes and tidy-ups.
- tool1621: fix to run, also fix it to pass.
- sockfilt: fix Windows compiler warning in certain unity include order,
  by explicitly including `warnless.h`.

tests: drop mk-bundle exceptions
Using a mixture of techniques to avoid symbols collisions:
- reduce scope.
- add `t*_` / `T*_` prefix.
- move shared functions to `testutil.c`.
  (`suburl()`, `rlim2str()`)
- clone re-used lib*.c sources.
  (lib587, lib645)
- include shared symbols just once in re-used `lib*.c` sources.
  (using `LIB*_C` guards.)
- drop re-used `lib*.c` sources where they were identical or
  unused.
- make macros global.
- #undef macros before use.

What remain is the entry functions `test`, and `unit_setup`,
`unit_stop` in unit tests.

Also:
- fix formatting and other minor things along the way.
- add `const` where possible.
- sync some symbol names between tests.
- drop `mk-bundle-hints.sh` that's no longer necessary.

Require now pytest-xdist from tests/http/requirements.txt and
run pytest in 'auto' parallel mode (counts cpu cores).

For CI runs, set the worker count to 4, overriding the
core count of 2 exposed in the images.

- use Filelock to generate allocated ports at start for all
  workers and have subsequent workers just read the file and
  take the ports for their slot
- make httpd config clearing a function fixture so every test
  starts with a clean httpd config
- have fixture `configures_httpd` as parameter of test cases
  that configure httpd anyway, saving one reload
- add pytest-xdist and filelock to required pyhton modules
- add installs to ruff CI
- give live checks waiting for a server to start up longer time

- do not stop servers unnecessarily. failures may not start them

runtests: generate certs dynamically, bump to EC-256, tidy up
Before this patch the curl repository and source tarball distribution
contained test certificates as binary blobs. Used by runtests.

Drop these certificates in favor of generating them dynamically as
part of the build process. Both via autotools and CMake.

As part of this, improve certificates, the generator script and process,
file layout, and fix any issue to make it work fast and smooth both in
CI and local builds.

Note, cert generator scripts require OpenSSL >=1.0.2
(or LibreSSL >=3.1.0). Generation requires POSIX shell, also with CMake.
Without a POSIX shell tests relying on TLS (and stunnel) will fail.

Details:

- build: generate certs as part of the test run process.
- build, tests: generate certs in the build directory.
- binarycheck: drop concept of known binary files with hashes.
- binarycheck: move binary check logic into spacecheck and drop this
  separate checker tool.
- build: fix to clean all cert files.
- autotools: fix to not run leaf cert generators in parallel. To avoid
  confusion when updating the revocation database and counter.
- scripts: drop `scripts` subdir, merge two scripts into one,
  auto-generate root cert, allow generating multiple leafs at once.
- scripts: switch to EC-256 keys (was: RSA-2048). For key size and perf.
- scripts: drop `-x` echo, text dumps, most other output. To avoid log
  noise and make it quicker in CI.
- scripts: make it non-RSA-specific.
- scripts: delete unused code.
- scripts: use POSIX shell shebang. Some envs don't have bash (Alpine).
- scripts: pass test pseudo-secrets via the command-line. To avoid:
  ```
  + openssl genrsa -out test-ca.key -passout fd:0 2048
  Invalid password argument, starting with "fd:"
  ```
- cmake: fix to launch generator scripts via the detected POSIX shell.
- cmake: fix `build-certs` rule to not depend on `SRPFILES`
  (`srp-verifier-*`).
- cmake: drop `EXCLUDE_FROM_ALL` for the cert subdir. It makes
  the Visual Studio generator miss to create the `clean-certs`,
  `build-certs` targets. No target depend on them, so they don't execute
  implicitly anyway. Fixes:
  ```
  MSBUILD : error MSB1009: Project file does not exist.
  Switch: clean-certs.vcxproj
  ```
- cmake: add `VERBATIM USES_TERMINAL` to `build-certs` target.
- GHA/linux: install openssl on Alpine, for the cert generator scripts.

runtests: drop logic calling the handle tool (Windows)
In the cases observed throughout the last year, `handle64` run once per
test run, but with no action (match or task kill). It did not help with
flakiness and seems redundant.

runtests launched it (if present) in Cygwin/MSYS jobs too, where it
probably shouldn't have, because we have seen no flakiness there. In CI
the tool was present and launched in MSYS2 jobs, but not in Cygwin.

consistently appearing once in every MSVC CI log, early in the tests:

- tests, various: restrict curl invocation to ipv4 to avoid talking to

- tests: requiring http/2 server no longer needs to mention http server
- test 190: use a fixed timeout of 10 seconds instead of %FTPTIME2, as
  that value rises under parallel load beyond what the server is waiting

build: add pytest targets
It enables running pytests in cmake jobs, regardless of underlying build
tool choice (= makes it work with ninja.)

Also:

- drop pytest logic launching `make` and exiting in case of failure.
  Maybe there is a better way and keep this functionality somehow, bind
  it to a command-line option? make it fail softly?

- GHA/linux: invoke pytest via the build, not directly.

- autotools: add missing dummy runtests targets when cross-compiling.

tests: speed up builds with single-binary test bundles
Add support for single-block binaries that contain all libtests and
unit tests respectively.

Enable with:
- autotools: `--enable-test-bundles`
- cmake: `-DCURL_TEST_BUNDLES=ON`

(They are compatible with `--enable-unity` and `-DCMAKE_UNITY_BUILD=ON`
options, for further speed-up.)

Makes libtests and unit tests build _fast_, needing little disk space
even in static mode. Similar to CMake unity mode, but with a custom
script, also supporting autotools builds.

The price is having to deal with symbols/macros colliding between
`lib*.c` and `unit*.c` sources. Maybe with naming conventions or other
solutions this can be improved gradually and reduce the need for manual
intervention by `mk-bundle.mk`. I've included a script that does the bulk
of detecting name collisions.

Also:
- CI: enable test bundles.
- CI: build tests in more jobs.
- lib2305: fix FILE handle leak.
- unit1661: fix memleak found by torture test by releasing the `bufref`
  structure in `unit_stop()` that was allocated in `unit_setup()`.
  ```
  test 1661...[bufref unit tests]
  Leak detected: memory still allocated: 13 bytes
   allocated by /home/runner/work/curl/curl/tests/unit/unit1661.c:70
   1661: torture FAILED: function number 1 in test.
tests: constrain http pytest to tests/http directory
Running the http pytest had to be done from tests directory or above,
because the repeat argument fixture was defined in tests/conftest.py.
However, the repeat argument is not needed because its functionality
can be provided by pytest-repeat as documented in the test's
README.md. So, removed the pytest_addoption function for the repeat
argument and the pytest_report_header function is moved to
tests/http/conftest.py.
TODO: Remove repeat argument from all tests. As a stopgap, a
CI: enable parallel testing in CI builds
The test-ci target now uses 2 processes by default, but the amount of
parallelism is tuned for each CI service and build environment based on
results of a number of test runs.  Some CI services use super-
oversubscribed build machines that can barely run the curl tests
already with no parallelism without frequently failing with
timing-induced failures. These continue to be run without parallelism.
Other services provide two fast, unloaded cores and these run with 14
processes, which is a good default for this kind of environment.
Here's a summary of the number of test processes by CI service:
  Appveyor - 2 (Windows MSVC), 1 (others)
  Azure - 2
  Circle CI - 14
  Cirrus - 28 (macOS), 14 (Linux), 7 (FreeBSD), 5 (macOS torture), 2 (Windows)
  GitHub Actions - 3 (macOS), 2 (Linux)
Some of these are a bit conservative to keep timing-induced flakiness down.
The net result is that the first test results should arrive only
3 minutes after a commit submission.
build: untangle CURLDEBUG and DEBUGBUILD macros
`CURLDEBUG` is meant to enable memory tracking, but in a bunch of cases,
it was protecting debug features that were supposed to be guarded with
`DEBUGBUILD`.
Replace these uses with `DEBUGBUILD`.
This leaves `CURLDEBUG` uses solely for its intended  purpose: to enable
the memory tracking debug feature.
Also:
- autotools: rely on `DEBUGBUILD` to enable `checksrc`.
  Instead of `CURLDEBUG`, which worked in most cases because debug
  builds enable `CURLDEBUG` by default, but it's not accurate.
- include `lib/easyif.h` instead of keeping a copy of a declaration.
- add CI test jobs for the build issues discovered.
docs: introduce "curldown" for libcurl man page format
curldown is this new file format for libcurl man pages. It is markdown
inspired with differences:
- Each file has a set of leading headers with meta-data
- Supports a small subset of markdown
- Uses .md file extensions for editors/IDE/GitHub to treat them nicely
- Generates man pages very similar to the previous ones
- Generates man pages that still convert nicely to HTML on the website
- Detects and highlights mentions of curl symbols automatically (when
  their man page section is specified)
tools:
- cd2nroff: converts from curldown to nroff man page
- nroff2cd: convert an (old) nroff man page to curldown
- cdall: convert many nroff pages to curldown versions
- cd2cd: verifies and updates a curldown to latest curldown
This setup generates .3 versions of all the curldown versions at build time.
CI:
Since the documentation is now technically markdown in the eyes of many
things, the CI runs many more tests and checks on this documentation,
including proselint, link checkers and tests that make sure we capitalize the
first letter after a period...
589dca761c CI: ignore the "flaky" and "timing-dependent" test results
CI builds will now run these tests, but will ignore the results if they
fail. The relevant tests are ones that are sensitive to timing or
